Romance author Sandra Cox is giving away unique raffle prizes to celebrate the release of her fantasy paranormal book, “Love, Lattes and Mutants.” Even with several books under her belt, Cox continues to learn about the publishing process, which she describes as “ever evolving.” She writes YA fantasy, paranormal, and historical romance, and metaphysical nonfiction. She lives in sunny North Carolina with her husband, a brood of critters, and an occasional foster cat.
In this Q&A, she talks about her latest book and her future plans.
Q: What is “Love, Latte and Mutants” about?
A: It’s about 17-year-old Piper Dunn, a mutant, trying to blend in. She’s a product of a lab-engineered mother with dolphin DNA. Piper spends her school days hiding her brilliant ocean-colored eyes and sea siren voice behind baggy clothing and ugly glasses.
A: I've been writing for several years and in about two weeks I'll be quitting my day job.
Q: What’s the biggest lesson you learned during the publication process of this book?
A: Publishing is an ever evolving process.
Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
A: Don't give up. Writing is not easy and not everyone is going to appreciate your style. Just remember that the ones that do are the ones you are writing for.
