A Love Letter to Hawaii’s Big Island

My dearest Big Island,

I will never forget the first time I saw giant green sea turtles snoozing on the sugary beach of Anaehoomalu Bay.  The sight made me so happy. You’ve shown me rainbows so vivid I could almost touch them. Your rugged beauty captivated me in an instant. It was love at first sight, if ever there was one. It’s the reason I keep returning to you without regard for my credit card bills.

I’m so glad I was I able to see you last summer. Who knew Kilauea Volcano would unleash its terrible tantrum this year? You know, my heart squeezes every time I see the images of the volcanic eruption in the news. I feel very lucky to have seen Kilauea up close when it was calm. I’m amazed that something so beautiful can also be terrifying. Kilauea’s tremendous power is truly humbling.

I should have told you this before, but I didn’t have the guts. You inspired me to write my second romance novel, FINDER KEEPER OF MY HEART.” I didn’t tell you before because I was afraid no publisher would accept it. Every other person in the world seems to be writing a novel. Competition in publishing is brutal.

But, guess what? Painted Hearts Publishing acquired my novel in April and fast-tracked it for publication. Today is the novel’s release day!

You’ll be pleased to know that you are present in every page of this novel, which is as much about two people finding each other as it is about your beauty and generosity. Just like me, the protagonists fall in love with you. They believe they are destined for each other, just as I believe I was destined to set foot in your glorious land.

I’m praying for your safety and return to normalcy. I hope to see you again soon.

Much love,

Cindy Fazzi aka Vina Arno
